California Sumo Association has held over 150 live sumo demonstrations and competitions to audiences of up to 30,000 people, all over the U.S., and on five different continents. Besides the annual US SUMO OPEN , a few of the largest recent events include:


Ocean's 13 (June, 2007 release):



Asian Heritage Festival (September 16, 2006):

CSA supported the inaugural event with a sumo demonstration in front of the renowned Queen Mary!


California State Games (July 14, 2006):

California Sumo Association performed a sumo demonstration on stage (and on the big screen) at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, in front of nearly 30,000 amateur athletes from all over California. The crowd went wild with excitement as 60,000 eyes focused on the action!


Cupertino Cherry Blossom Festival (April 29, 2006):
For years, CSA has been performing at Cherry Blossom Festivals all over the country, including Los Angeles, San Diego, Ventura, Northern California, Arizona, Washington D.C., and more.

“Memoirs of a Geisha” (December, 2005 release):
This acclaimed Columbia Pictures film (based on the best-selling book) features a dramatic sumo scene, with remarkable visuals. California Sumo Association is proud to have worked on the film with costuming, casting, choreography, technical advice, set construction, art department, translating, research, directing sumo talent on set, procuring sumo gear, and more.
